can i just say how beautiful the inauguration was today?
as i get older, i now know why people say they are "proud to be an american".

i am so happy i saw and heard a speech today from a man who i coudn't be happier to call my President.

so if you did or did not know, my man REDLIST is a (super talented & intelligent) hip-hop artist and has made the decision to reach out and start doing shows in this crazy city (and city limits) of ours.
we did one back in december at the walnut street cafe in lynn with Loud Neighbors (aka. Early Adopted and Defiance) and it could not have went better. my man let me be his (for lack of a better word) hype-woman, and both of us dominated the stage (along with alot of 808's!). we got mad love after the show from the people who were there (thanks again!) and are all amped up to get more shows lined up!

i write this with a heavy heart of love and loss, but want to publicly express why Carol Ann will be truly missed. the morning of january 5, 2009 Carol passed away due to stomach cancer at 55 years old. she would have been 56 next month. there are individuals who touch your life more than words or feelings can express, and Miss Carol (also known as MaCarol) was one of those magnificent people.
she was a mother to me and forever a friend who will remain so close to my mother and my sisters hearts.
may her memory be enternal. ♥

growing up.
since the summer of 2007, i would say that i have progressively done a whole lot of growing up.
i was talking with my man about this, as the year was coming to a close the other day and we both agreed that if we "grew up" the most in 2007, 2008 was a year of challenges and forks in the road to truly test the maturing that we believed that we gained. there were good times and bad times, but overall, a year that we are both glad is now under the bridge.
phone call with my mom this morning:
me: "good morning mom!"
mom: "well...well...well! what are you doing up so early!"
me: "i always get up early now. its like the clock strikes 9 and im wide awake"
mom: "well, it seems like you are officially a grown up now!"
whether keeping early hours is the true notion of how grown up a young adult is, i've never been a late sleeper (unless whiskey was involved the night before) and am glad that i'm back to being a early riser. theres a peace in the mornings that just cant be explained that i've always loved.
